"All things in Japan were great but there was one concert that I think we all enjoyed. It was our second to last concert and I knew for sure that I was ready... We walked on stage and I could even feel the people's stares. We had sung our first two songs and we were going to do 'Ubertebengrob' when the instruments were to my left. It was great! When we sang, " We Rise Again," we had so much emotion and all eyes were on us. If I had to pick one moment to live again, it would be that one." |

About Our Choir
A sense of community, fellowship and caring for one another has always been the hallmark of the Calgary Children's Choir. This is in abundant evidence during the choir camp each fall at Camp Horizon. The Calgary Children's Choir works to maintain a balance in the development of the child as a musician, performer and responsible citizen.The Calgary Children's Choir teaches the highest quality repetoire to the highest standard while promoting this development. The discipline of regular practice, formal choir presentations, international tours and involvement in community events are the means by which this balanced development is pursued. In its twentieth season, the Calgary Children's Choir proudly looks back on its many varied activities and performances. Choiristers take part in many music festivals and joint performances with local performers and groups as well as performances in senior residences and other care facilities. In addition, the choir has completed nine tours; the most recent ones to the Shizuoka Music Fesitval in Japan in 2006 and Ottawa in 2007.

Throughout the year choir members have one to two regular weekly rehearsals and occasional additional rehearsals as directed. The program also cons
ists of special rehearsals with a variety of local clinicians, and special camps, workshops and tours. The choir performs three annual concerts and often has opportunities to sing in special performances and functions. Some examples of these include performances with the Alberta Ballet's "Carmina Burana " (2006) and performances with the Mount Royal Kanorei (2006). Both events were at the newly renovated Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
